Public Employees' Health Insurance Plan (PEEHIP)

 

PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control.  The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.

COBRA Subsidy News:

President Obama signed into law on April 15, 2010, another extension of the COBRA premium assistance which extends through May 31, 2010, the period during which individuals may become eligible for the COBRA subsidy. The new law also provides retroactive eligibility for individuals who lost their jobs after the prior COBRA subsidy expired on March 31, 2010.

Medicare Protection Toolkit

New Online Services now Available:  Within 45 days of a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), members who have one or more of the four following Qualifying Life Events can enroll in or make changes online to his or her health insurance and/or flexible spending accounts outside of the Open Enrollment period:   adoption of a child; birth of a child; legal custody of a child; and marriage of a subscriber.   New PEEHIP employees can enroll online in PEEHIP coverages up until 30 days after his or her hire date and can choose the effective date of coverage to be either the date of hire or the first of the month following the date of hire.
